TCP Introduces New CFL Products

Aurora, Ohio – (May 4, 2009) –TCP, the leader in compact fluorescent lighting products, is introducing an extensive array of new CFL products and product enhancements at this week’s LightFair Show in New York City, NY. These exciting new products further enhance TCP’s already comprehensive line-up of energy efficient compact fluorescent lamps.

“TCP has long been a leader in CFL design and innovation, and we think these new products will set new standards for CFL performance, reliability and energy efficiency”, said Dave Geraci, CFL Product Manager at TCP. “We have listened carefully to our customers’ needs. These products reinforce TCP’s commitment to providing outstanding customer satisfaction, alongside our ongoing focus on environmental responsibility”.

Leading the new product line-up is a new family of ultra-compact T2 and T3 CFL lamps, featuring TCP’s new “Radial/Symmetry” lamp design, which reduces the lamps measured overall length (MOL), and increases lumen output and efficacy. These new lamps are the world’s first CFL to offer electronic end-of-lamp life circuit protection, which provides and extra measure of safety in compliance with Euro IEC standards, making them the most compact and high performing CFL lamps available in the industry.

The new T2 and T3 lamps feature advanced high-power ballast design which reduces lamp start-up time and coupled with TCP technologies such as Nano-Ti lamp pre-coat, provides improved lumen maintenance compared to previous offerings. TCP’s new CFLs utilize proven lead-free glass, and environmentally-friendly amalgam which reduces mercury content to well below EPA standards.

The new T2 and T3 CFL lamps will be offered in a wide array of wattages and color temperatures, plus specialty applications such as colored bulbs, bug lights and dimmable versions. These new CFLs have a long rated life, and provide the best lumens-per-watt (LPW) performance in the industry.

TCP is also announcing a line of fully dimmable CFL lamps. These lamps feature advanced ballast design, which allows these CFL lamps to dim from 100% to 20% without the annoying “flicker” typical of other products. This TCP innovation eliminates some of the problems associated with other dimmable CFL lamps.

TCP’s dimmable CFL products provide the consumer with an excellent choice for uncompromised CFL dimming performance, plus outstanding useful life. TCP’s dimmable lamps incorporate unique ballast control circuitry to precisely control cathode operation, which dramatically extends lamps life. The ballast design also utilizes computer-controlled low-end cut-off to turn the lamp off at a pre-set condition. This feature eliminates flicker and helps to further improve overall lamp life.

These dimmable products will be offered initially in a 14-watt and 23-watt SpringLamp®, and in 14-watt R20, 14-watt R30 and 19-watt R40 covered reflectors. TCP’s new dimmable CFL’s are also unique in that they feature a high-power factor rating, in addition to being fully FCC-compliant.

Another exciting product innovation from TCP this year is the new InstaBright-AGTM fast starting covered CFL products. TCP is unveiling four new covered lamps, which utilize TCP’s patented lamp starting technology. This exclusive technology improves initial lamp lumens by more than 50%, resulting in faster lamp run-up time and outstanding initial lumen performance. TCP’s InstaBright-AGTM CFL’s outperform other covered CFL products, and provide outstanding life and exceptional lumen maintenance. The new InstaBright-AGTM products are offered in 14-watt R20 and R30 reflectors, 14-watt G25 globe, and 14-watt A19 A-lamps.

A new line of Cold Cathode lamps is also being introduced. TCP’s new cold cathodes have been completely re-designed to improve reliability, durability and dimming performance. TCP has long been known as a leader in cold cathode CFL design and technology. These new products utilize redesigned ballast circuitry, and offer improved lamp structural integrity to extend useful life especially when used in very demanding applications such as outdoor signs or marquees.

All of the new TCP CFL products are tested and certified to meet/exceed FCC and UL compliance, and they also meet the new RoHS requirements which come in to effect in some parts of the US early in 2010. TCP currently has over 100 products which have earned the US Department of Energy’s “Energy Star” designation. TCP is also proud to be the recipient of the DOE’s 2009 “Energy Star Partner of the Year” award.
